Engineering campus was moved from Tronoh to Seri Ampangan, Nibong Tebal in year 2001. The sport centre under the Engineering campus has following abjective, vision and mission:
OBJECTIVE
• Produce the champion among the staffs and students
• Prepare , maintain and improve the sport facilities
• Organize the sports tournament in a sustainable way
VISION
• To create a lively Sport and Recreation Centre and able to produce athletes who are able to compete at a higher level
MISSION
• Cultivate the sport and recreation culture among Universiti Sains Malaysia committee
• The organization of sustainable multi-level sports tournament
• Provide the excellence sport and recreation facilities
• Produce new sport talent through , talent scavenging, talent sharpening and scientific facilities
• Conduct sports promotion in order to attract sponsorship for sports development Universiti Sains Malaysia
Sports & Recreation Center, USM role:
- Develop and cultivate sports programs to the campus community.
- Manage and coordinate the development of high performance athletes and sports scholarship Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia.
- Produce "The Thinking Athletes".
- Realize the seven core programs of the Sports Development Policies of Higher Education Institutions (DPSIPT).
- Serve as "educational sports hub" to attract both local and foreign students as a career and academic development as implemented through TEAM SPORTS PROGRAM, Centre of Excellence Swimming IPT (SMEs) and Focal Hockey IPT (PT).
- Planning the provision of infrastructure and sports facilities of international standards with regard to customer-friendly sports facilities including disabled / gender can be focused.
- Planning and coordination of the implementation of management university sports development across four campuses, the Main Campus, Health Campus, Engineering Campus and Campus IPPT.
